Oliver.

Back in Feburary my parents allowed me to adopt my own cat.  The adoption fee was $75.  Since we already own two other cats I wouldn’t need to worry about buying him cat food, cat litter, etc. until I’ve moved out.  However, this cat is costing more than I ever thought he would (I should not be surprised though.)  Our other two cats are also declawed and my cat is not.  He has already scratched up my mom’s brand new leather chair a bit and continues to do so on other furniture.  My parents wanted me to get him declawed, but the shelter that I adopted Oliver through had me sign a contract saying I would never declaw him.  And if I did declaw him and they found out, I would be fined $1000.  So I decided it would be best for Oliver to get a tenedonectomy instead.  The tendons in his front paws are cut so he cannot extend them.  This costs $470.  So I go to the vet and find that he was also not given all of his needed vaccinations.  This cost me another $190.  It’s like having my own child, though not quite as expensive.

And I find it funny because a couple weeks after I adopted Oliver, my work begins to schedule me a one 3 hour shift every three to four weeks.  So I basically have very little or no income right now.   However, I love Oliver dearly and am very glad that I did adopt him.  He is a very curious cat and tends to get into a lot of trouble, such as climbing ladders and sitting on top of bookshelves, but I still love him.  Also, since I adopted him I haven’t been getting very much sleep because he likes to either lay on my head or pounce on me whenever I move.
