This morning at around 2:30 I woke up with incredibly excruciating pain in my abdomen; pain I have never felt before. It was so bad I wished that I could just pass out. I laid in my bed until 7:00, awake, unable to sleep because the pain was so bad. I had to work today and tried to call in to tell my manager I couldn’t make it. No one ever answered. Finally at 9:00, when I am supposed to be at work, I get a hold of my manager. This is the first time I have ever called in sick. My manager is angry that I can’t come in and hangs the phone up on me. I take two vicodin pain killers and it doesn’t do any good. The pain feels like a knife stabbing at my stomach over and over. My mom is trying to think of what could be causing me so much pain. She finds that I have almost all the symptoms of appendicitis. She takes me to urgent care and the doctors complete a blood test. I find that my white blood cell count is very high; sign that there could be an infection. I, of course, am flipping out. The pain finally begins to go away. My mom tells me that when the appendix ruptures, the pain is less (which doesn’t make sense). My dad had told me earlier that if it does rupture, you can die. I am really, really worried because I think that I am going to die. The doctors do more tests and a cat scan. Finally, several hours later, the doctor comes in with the news. And it is good. I do not have appendicitis or kidney stones. Whew, thank goodness. Just a really, really, really, bad stomach ache. And I found it funny, because when I got back home, the pain was almost completely gone.
